H&M Spring Catalogue...

Yesterday this came through the letterbox, now when I signed up to H&M online

I assumed I'd be being sent the instore magazine, not a catalogue which

this is. It came with sheets to place your order on and send to them. Personally

I feel this makes them more like Next and La Redoute which I'm not a big fan of

as they take the fun out of shopping. There's no rushing around a store or

trying to find a bargain on the internet. You can just flip through while

having a coffee... BORING! 

The cover also confused me they're selling clothes right? Well then why

does the cover suggest it's more make up, which incidentally they do

but isn't in the catalogue. Perhaps they are trying to sell a lifestyle but then

they could have used a picture with a couple of people which would still give

across the same message. ANyway enough ranting, after looking through I

found a few things I liked but I will not be ordering from the catalogue.

Personally internet or store shopping is far more my thing, just as well they

do both of those!

the luxury article...

For my portfolio I had to write an article for a magazine about Luxury, I chose
Harper's Bazaar and wrote about renting luxury goods, like bags and shoes.
Seeing as I'm a student actually buying a designer bag is pretty much out of the
question without bankrupting myself but I don't think I'd want to ever send it back
so doubt I'd ever actually do it. As it had to be 2 double page spreads I then
did three short image heavy articles also on luxury items. Heavy Sex and the City
influence I know but it is luxury and fashion perfectly combined!

i heart asos all-american girl

I'm loving this 'all-american girl' feature on asos.com women's page.
The contrast of the background with the girly dresses and the gingham,
which might wind up turning into my summer obsession. I'm also
dying to buy a baseball jacket, something american and sporty anyway!

tattoo...

This is the tattoo I'm thinking of getting. I keep drawing it on (but the pic above shows it drawn in on photoshop as this makes it clearer for you to see!) to make sure I don't go off it, which to be honest is unlikely as I've wanted one for a year now. Personally I'd rather write it on and then get the tattoo artist to go over it so its not a font and no one else can have the same, also it makes it more personal. For me it would be kind of a personal reminder on my wrist. Now I just need to find somewhere to get it done!

moodboards...

So one of our first tasks at uni was to make a moodboard based on our obsessions, didn't really think they'd appreciate an a3 sheet with the asos logo so decided to do one about fun fashion images. Now this is my first proper moodboard meaning that every other one involved finding all the pictures I liked then trying to fit them all onto one sheet, no real thought to composition or layout or the white space on of my tutors is obsessed with. I've now been doing my course for 2 and a half months now so thought I'd have a go at another one on black and white photography. I love it because i think it shows real skill on the part of all involved to be able to convey everything in greyscale. Hopefully you can see the improvement!

obsessions...

So I should probably mention my slight asos obsession, it even used to be my homepage until my mum forced me to change it as I was spending way too much money on it. Anyway as it's my birthday and Christmas soon (YEY) and they were doing 20% off own brand I decided to treat myself! And these are the gorgeous things I bought,  just hope they all fit so fingers crossed.
